As a southern gentleman, from where I am, Bagels don't have a big history here near New Orleans. It's either French Bread, Beignets, or Begets. I had a client once that ordered and shared some fresh bagels and smoked salmon with me @20+ years ago. It was something a friend had sent him from New York, from whence he came, and he bragged adamantly about them. He let me try one with some smoked salmon, big slice of tomato, creole of course, and a slice of red onion. I was hooked and have been looking for great bagels since. I normally just buy some from Sam's Club and then get some smoked salmon there as well when I have a hankering. Well, after having yours, goodbye to Sam's, Lenders, Orowheat,....... These are really good, huge, and very satisfying. I tried the Pumpernickel last night from my second order with some almond butter spread and, oh man, I loved it. Best bagel yet. My oldest really likes them too. A little pricey vs local but the quality makes them worth it. Love that I can straight up freeze them for later and that they stay in good shape for so long that way. We don't eat them often because of the carb difference vs other breakfast items but, I've also used these vs regular bread for sandwiches and they are just great and filling and with the right bagel, good for you. The first order disappeared for some reason, I blame FEDEX and assume the driver has been eating well since, but when I contacted Customer Service, I got a quick response, and they sent me replacements ASAP. Lot of peculiar flavors on your website, at least for a New Orleanian, but I'm thinking about eventually trying them all. BTW, no such thing as a Pumpernickel bagel down here and as a whole grain, wheat, rye kinda guy, these have made my day. Really glad I ran across your site and threw caution to the wind to give them a try! You can't beat our French Bread and Beignets, but you've got us beat on bagels!
PS can you guys maybe share some recipes or uses for these other than salmon or spreads. I see many flavors that I quite frankly don't know how they would taste or what to couple them with. I mean, EGG BAGEL????? What's a Bialys and what does it taste like? We're a butter, olive oil, creme cheese kinda town and could put literally anything on these things including critter meat but where to start? LOL!
