Everything Bagel Bread Pudding (Overnight Breakfast Casserole)
This overnight breakfast casserole is essentially a savory bread pudding, and everything bagels are a spectacular base for one!
- The night before you want to serve it, cube four everything bagels and spread them in a buttered baking dish (9" x 13").
- Scatter diced ham or cooked breakfast sausage, shredded Gruyere cheese, and chopped scallions over the bread cubes.
- Whisk together eight eggs, two cups of whole milk, a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper, then pour the custard evenly over the bagel mixture.
- Press down gently to submerge everything, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, remove the dish from the fridge while the oven preheats to 350 degrees, then bake uncovered for about forty-five minutes until the dish is puffed, golden, and set in the center.
This feeds a crowd effortlessly and the everything bagel flavor infuses the entire casserole with its distinctive garlic-onion-sesame character.
